✦ Synopsis
The effect of cosubstitution of Sr for Ba and Co for Cu in the superconductor YBa2-,Sr,Cu3-.CO.07-d on Raman spectra and relevant bond distances deduced with neutron diffraction measurements has been investigated. Specifically the 0(4) stretching 500 cm-1 Raman frequency shifts, on the one hand. upward upon Sr doping. on the other hand downward upon Co doping. The net effect is inter~reted by a weakening of the net force constant for the 0{4) atom involving both the Cu(1)-0(4) and Cu(2)-0(4) bonds, and the 0(4) s~retch~ng .vi brat ion is found. to ~ystematically change with the Cu(l)-Cu(2) bond distance. A brief d1Scusslon 1S made on the relat10nshlp between Tc and the structural changes induced by the dopants.

Raman and x-ray diffraction measurements have been performed on Co substituted YBa2Cu3-xCoxO6+8. The x-ray diffraction data show that the structure transforms from orthorhombic to tetragonal at x=0.13. The features in the Raman spectra change smoothly throughout the investigated concentration range
