✦ Synopsis

Application . Site preparation for artificial regeneration that concentrates (bedding) or maintains (minimal disturbance) organic components of forest soils can substantially enhance seedling survival and growth . Removing organic layers (scalping) is not usually warranted where competition from other vegetation is moderate .
