โฆ Synopsis
We present the results of an investigation into the Jc dependence on processing time for silver and a silver alloy sheathed (Pb,Bi)2223 tapes sintered at 830ยฐC. The peak Jยข for the silver alloy and silver tapes was found to differ in magnitude and sintering time (Jc,,l,oy= 14250 Acre -2, Jยข,^s=7500 Acm'Z). The peak value of J~ for the alloy sheathed tape was found to be at 130h and that of the silver sheathed tape was at 250h.

The effect of core density on the processing of superconducting tapes has been investigated. Tapes were prepared with different 'as-rolled' densities, but all other mechanical and thermal parameters remained the same. The precursor powder used had a nominal stoichiometry of Bi,.,,Pb,.,,Sr,.,,Ca~.~~C
