Dielectric relaxation spectra have been measured for a series of siloxane based side-chain liquid crystal polymers and the effect of the spacer group chemical structure (alkyl and vinylacetic acid) on dielectric motion is presented, as is the effect of spacer length for each polymer with a given spa

โฆ Synopsis
The dynamics of polymer chains, such as +-A-BR-BR jX, are investigated by means of the equivalent linear polymer chains, $-A-B'-B'+-X, with the probability p of movement of bead B'. It is found that the relaxation times of the equivalent linear polymer chains obey the relation T,(p) = T,.p -Et, where & = 0.75, #& = #I3 = 0.85, in the absence of excluded volume, and T,(p) = T,.p-e (excluding k = l), where #& = p3 = 0.90, in the presence of excluded volume, where T, is the relaxation times T, of linear Polymer chains, or Tko = Tk (p = 1 .O).
