✦ Synopsis

Hybrid fiber-radio networks can lead to a more effecti¨e exploitation of the a¨ailable radio frequencies for microcellular co¨erage and to meet the increasing demand of cellular mobile radio communications. In this letter, the effect of clipping impulsi¨e noise due to the nonlinear beha¨ior of a semiconductor laser is e¨aluated on the performance of a CDMA-based optical fiber microcellular radio system.
