## Abstract Postconsumer PET bottles including water and soft‐drink bottles were depolymerized by glycolysis in excess glycols, such as ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, and diethylene glycol, in the presence of a zinc acetate catalyst. The obtained glycolyzed products were reacted with maleic anh
