✦ Synopsis

It is shown by a NMR analysis of AI nuclei and Adiabatic Demagnetisation that in a pure crystal of AI203 (sapphire) the heat capacity due to the Quadrupolar Interaction is weakly coupled to the phonon bath at low temperatures. Therefore, it does not prevent this type of absorber from being an excellent candidate for bolometric applications.

The heat treatment of silicon nitride ceramics with only CeO 2 as a sintering additive was carried out at different temperatures. Large residual stress was induced only by the non-relaxed volume changes and not by the relaxed volume changes (i.e. the crystallized phases with cavities or microcracks)
