✦ Synopsis
Abslnct-Anodic dissolution of aluminium in chloride solutions was performed by pulsating current. For one and the same average current density significant reduction of polarization was achieved under certain conditions, compared to that required by constant current. Dominant factors are the pulse duration and the pulse time to rest time ratio, the polarisation exhibiting a minimum at a certain value of these parameters. The effect was given a semiquantitative interpretation based on a model of protective film destabilization under high flux of dissolving aluminium ions, and a relatively slow relaxation of the film during the rest time period
