Highlights

β€’ Al samples with incorporated alumina particles were prepared using SPD. β€’ A grain size reduction by a factor over ten is achieved. β€’ Accompanied with grain size reduction, the hardness increased. β€’ The samples exhibit excellent thermal stability for pure aluminium.
