The coil-to-globule transitions of fractionated poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) chains attached to electrosterically stabilized polystyrene latex particles were studied for molecular weights ranging from 3 Γ 105 to 2 Γ 10 6. The shapes of the transitions proved to be a sensitive function of the polymer
## Abstract The tear strength of several thermoplastic polymers filled with colloidal silica has been determined as a function of polymer molecular weight. There were two regimes of behaviour. Low molecular weight materials were embrittled by a small amount, around 10% volume fraction, of filler. H
