โœฆ Synopsis

Drastically reduced cycle times for gas forming of a workpiece made of a superplastic alloy (here, Al alloy 5083) are achieved by lubrication, to be applied not only between the workpiece and the die cavity, but also to the area under the railing. The method allows large volume production of such parts. The Figure shows a top view of a specimen with markings to show material flow and deformation.

This research examines the effect of the tube-bending process on subsequent crashworthiness of aluminum alloy s-rail structures. Through experiments, the effects of bending process parameters, tube initial thickness, thickness changes, work hardening and bend radius on the energy absorption characte
