✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A technique is described for rapidly assessing the effect of impurities on primary nucleation in solutions. The influence of Ca^2+^, Sr^2+^, Ba^2+^, Ag^+^, Pb^2+^, Cr^3+^ and Ni^2+^ on the nucleation of potassium sulphate solutions is discussed. It is generally observed that a discontinuity in the behaviour of the impurity occurs at an impurity concentration corresponding to the solubility of the β€œimpurity sulphate” in the solution under investigation.

The effects of ionic strength and pH on the diffusion coefficients and gross conformation of chitosan molecules in solution were studied. Chitosan with 83% degree of deacetylation (DD) was prepared from red shrimp (Solemocera prominenitis) processing waste. Ten different molecular weight chitosans w
