✦ Synopsis

The control group (Gc, n = 20) underwent laparotomy without irrigation. Adhesions were found in: 5/20 animals of the G, (all slight): 6/20 of the 30Β°C group (all slight); 6/20 of the 34Β°C group (all slight): 6/20 of the 37Β°C group (all slight): 12/20 of the 40Β°C group (all slight): 12/20 of the 45Β°C group (I1 slight, I moderate); 14/20 of the 50Β°C group (12 slight, 2 moderate); 18/19 of the 55Β°C group (2 slight, 6 moderate, 10 marked); and 18/18 of the 60Β°C group ( I moderate, 8 marked, 9 massive). These results indicate that saline irrigation below body temperature does not prevent adhesions whereas warmed saline encourages adhesion formation in the rat.

## Abstract An investigation has been made of the effect which an increasing hydrostatic pressure may have on copper corrosion at different temperatures in sea water at pH 7.8. The tests were carried out at a pressure of 1, 50, 100, 200 and 300 atm at a temperature of 5 Β°, 10 Β° and 20 Β°C. The pre
