The effect of enzyme-inhibitor complex formation on the hydration properties of the macromolecular moiety was investigated on the model system of a-chymotrypsin and its Ser-195 tosyl derivative. The primary (A-shell) hydration of the native and modified enzyme was compared by sorption measurements.

The effect of water on the morphology of four ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymers (EVOH) with different ethylene contents was studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). EVOH film samples equilibrated in controlled atmospheres at different relative humidities (RH) and 23Β°C were analyzed. Under
The hydrodynamic radii of colloidal silica particles in the aqueous solutions were measured under various conditions of \(\mathrm{pH}\) and salt concentration by means of the dynamic light scattering technique. In the salt free solutions the observed hydrodynamic radius increased by \(1 \mathrm{~nm}
The physicochemical properties of two forms of spray dried bovine serum albumin (BSA) have been investigated using particle sizing, surface energy measurement, atomic force microscopy (AFM) and colloid probe microscopy. The BSA powder had similar particle size distributions and surface energy but si
## Abstract The deformability of the erythrocyte (RBC) is greatly influenced by its state of hydration. The purpose of this investigation is to quantitate this relationship by measuring the deformability of an RBC population over a broad range of cell water content. By manipulation of the ion conte
