โฆ Synopsis
Deformations in the walls of a hollow superconducting cylinder trapping a magnetic field change the strength and homogeneity of the field. The influence of such distortions has been studied numerically. The results allow an estimate to be made of the accuracy to which a cylinder has to be machined to produce fields of the required homogeneity.
