โฆ Synopsis
The sound insulation of two sets of unsealed windows with different frame crosssections has been examined. One set of frames was constructed in situ using rectangular timber sections, the others being proprietary steel windows. The results showed that the unsealed steel windows had much lower sound insulations than the unsealed timber windows for gaps of the same length and width. The differences are discussed in terms of the cross-sectional shapes of the respective gaps.

Nominally identical examples of most types of building construction have been found to provide different levels of sound insulation. A possible reason is that different standards of workmanship introduce differences that cannot be seen when the.building has been completed. For example, if mortar bet
## Abstract The paper presents the energetic performances of a window in diverse constructive realization solutions and the thermal protection of its frame. The study made has at its basis the numeric analysis of the temperature field upon the effect made by the joining of the thermal insulation fr
