✦ Synopsis
An approximation of the fluid velocity radial profiles within the bed cross-section was taken into account at the numerical solution of the mathematical model of the mass dispersion within the fluid stream, and the effect on the behaviour of the radial Peclet number was analysed numerically and verified experimentally. The Peclet numbers, estimated by this solution, are of about 20% smaller than those, estimated from the same experimental data by means of the commonly accepted analytical model solution obtained under assumption of the fluid plug flow within the bed. The account of the velocity radial profile together with the contribution of the axial disDersion at the model solution improved the accuracy of the simulation of the concentration radial profiles.
