โฆ Synopsis
The solvatochromic acid-base indicator 2,6diphenyl-4-(2,4,6-triphenyl-l-pyridinio)phenoxide, ET( 30), has been employed to ascertain the effect of electrolyte on the effective interfacial dielectric constant and the mean electrostatic surface potential, vuo, of dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide and dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride micelles. The micellar w0 values have been interpreted by comparing them with the w0 values calculated from the unmodified non-linearized Poisson-Boltzmann equation.
