Effects of gamma-ray irradiation on some optical properties of xZnO AE 2xPbO AE (1-3x)B 2 O 3 glasses have been studied in the wavelength range 300-800 nm. Decrease in transmittance indicates the formation of color-center defects. Values for the energy-band gap, the width of the energy tail above th
glasses were prepared from very pure oxides. The glass-transition temperature increased from 281 to 411 °C with an increase in Nb 2 O 5 content and, simultaneously, the coefficient of thermal expansion decreased from 21 to 11 ppm/°C. Raman scattering measurements indicated that TeO 4 trigonal bipyra
