emissions. In this paper the physical and chemical properties of biomass cokes obtained from the high-temperature pyrolysis of whole babassu coconuts are presented and discussed in relation to the well known properties of conventional cokes. Even though a total substitution appears possible from the chemical and mechanical standpoints, the amount of biomass necessary precludes this possibility in the immediate future.

In this work we describe a numerical model of the evolution of the particle size distribution (PSD) during coal combustion. The model includes burning and fragmentation. The model examines the sensitivity of PSD evolution to different modes of fragmentation by allowing the input of alternative fragm
