✦ Synopsis

The present study demonstrates the statistical qualities of electrical brain activity by using Parcor coefficients. As a result, the statistical interference of the EEG samples under consideration turns out to be relatively small, implying constraints on the interpretation of the spectra, as well as on the operational calculus o f the Wiener criterion. An algorithm based on the linear prediction filter is provided which, moreover, makes use of the Toeplitz structure of the covariance matrix. Although not discussed here, the application of the Parcor coefficients to the general problem of model building is apparent.
