AERE, Harwell Circle number 45 on Reader Enquiry Service card Edwards High Vacuum approved by ministry of defence under new quality standards Edwards High Vacuum of Crawley, Sussex (part of BOC Ltd) announce that they have been approved by the Ministry of Defence Procurement Executive as an organisation meeting Defence Standard 05-21 (Quality Control Systems Requirements for Industry).

This new standard, which is in line with NATO quality requirements accepted in the EEC, is the most stringent applied by the Ministry. It is mandatory for all contractors supplying goods in which performance and reliability are key factors.

It covers every aspect of a company's organisation : general management, design, development, quality control in production, purchasing, inspection, and testing and approving finished products.

Edward's approval covers the full range of the company's vacuum products including vacuum pumps and accessories, measuring, monitoring and analytical instruments, process plant for freeze-drying and deposition, leak detection equipment, liquified gas storage equipment and custom-built plant and production lines.

It also covers contract production services such as vacuum coating, vacuum brazing and heat treatment, freeze-drying, and training courses.
