We have started with this issue a section entitled "Short Contributions." This section is meant to provide a platform to publish shorter papers, typically about 8 to 12 manuscript pages in length, which have less exacting editorial constraints than longer contributions. Virtually any topic falling within the normal scope of the journal is fair game, but the advantage of this shorter format is that we should be able to publish such manuscripts more quickly. Moreover, we hope that this will encourage authors to submit manuscripts that deal with method or techniques, or preliminary results of field studies.
