✦ Synopsis
Since the introduction of the Reference Data section in 1982 our Journal, Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry, has provided a platform for the publication of NMR data of general interest derived from the assignment of chemical shifts and coupling constants. While in the early years this section was dominated by data from small molecules, results for more complex systems, especially from the field of natural products, have increasingly been submitted in recent times. Also, more advanced techniques of assignment are now applied. We felt, therefore, that this section should be enlarged and it is my pleasure to introduce, with the present issue, the new section Spectral Assignments and Reference Data, inviting authors to contribute careful NMR assignments with state-of-the-art techniques from all fields of molecular sciences. Of course, the general philosophy remains: fragmentation of publications is discouraged and the material should not be taken from a larger manuscript and published separately. Other points of interest are summarized in the Notes for Contributors at the end of this issue.
