β¦ Synopsis
This special thematic issue of Peptide Science is guest edited by Claudio Toniolo and Scott Miller. The papers collected by Toniolo and Miller illustrate the natural bridging role that peptides play between the world of biopolymers and the world of organic synthetic chemistry. Not only were the methods of organic chemistry key to the development of the capacity to synthesize peptides, but peptides are also serving strategic roles in novel ways in organic syntheses. This collection of papers will be of interest to both the peptide community and to organic synthetic chemists and will provide insights helpful to researchers across these domains.
We envision this as the first in a series of thematic issues of Peptide Science dedicated to these bridging areas: here-applications of peptides to organic chemistry (e.g., catalysis)-and in the future-applications of peptides to physical chemistry (e.g., as spacers, linkers, model systems) and peptides in medicinal chemistry.
