✦ Synopsis

I have decided to retire as Editor-in-Chief at the end of this year. I have been Editor of the Journal of Raman Spectroscopy since I founded it (in association with Dr H. J. Bernstein) in 1973 and 30 volumes have appeared under my guidance. It has been very gratifying to see the Journal grow steadily in size and importance over the years. The first volumes consisted of six bi-monthly issues and amounted to some 600 A5 pages.
