✦ Synopsis
Going Strong, Going Solo
Eighteen months have gone by since the first issue of ChemBioChem appeared with Angewandte Chemie. They've been an exciting 18 months for everyone involved in chemical biology, as the field has been rapidly expanding. In August last year ChemBioChem was bound separately from Angewandte Chemie for the first time, and the beginning of 2002, as ChemBioChem starts its first full ªsoloº year, seems like a good time to assess the journal's progress and to look forward to the future.
ChemBioChem, aÐor should we say theÐEuropean Journal of Chemical Biology, has certainly been successfully echoing the growth and excitement in the fields of research at the interface of biology and chemistry. The journal has grown rapidly, and the number and quality of the manuscripts received has exceeded all expectations. In 2000 we published 294 pages and last year the total was 943. In order to improve manuscript throughput in response to the steadily increasing submissions, we plan ChemBioChem is a European journal of chemical biology; it is co-owned by a group of European scientific societies and published by WILEY-VCH.
