β¦ Synopsis
2010 has been another excellent year for JCTB. The Journal's latest Impact Factor was announced in June and had risen for the fifth consecutive year from 1.682 to 2.045. This rise in Impact Factor was mirrored by a rise in popularity as seen in the ever increasing numbers of submissions with 18% more submissions in 2009 than in 2008 and at the time of writing, 2010 had already brought in many more submissions than the same period in 2009.
JCTB's homepage is now to be found on the new Wiley web platform, Wiley Online Library. 1 JCTB will be in good company because this new site brings together over 4 million articles from 1500 journals, 8000 books, and hundreds of reference works, laboratory protocols and databases. The new site has a clear interface and is fully search engine optimised, which should make JCTB's content even easier to find and access.
Early in the year we updated the Aims and Scope to reflect the changing interests of our authors and readers and to ensure suitable new technologies have a place there. If you haven't done so already, please take the time to have a look.
We have also changed the system keywords in our online submissions site, ScholarOne Manuscripts. 2 Authors and reviewers are now asked to select key words from a drop down list, this will allow papers to be matched with appropriate referees quickly and easily, ultimately speeding up the reviewing process. If you have not done so already, we would be grateful if you could log on to the ScholarOne site and update your keywords.
We are very grateful to the authors of front matter articles, 2010 saw the publication of two excellent Emerging Technologies papers, which have generated a lot of interest and are well worth looking at. 3,4 We have also published a number of quality reviews and hope to keep this momentum up for 2011. If you have an idea for a front matter article, please contact the editorial team at
