β¦ Synopsis
Science seeks and needs publicity: If it does not make itself available to open and public discussion then science is dead; science dies when the open discussion of it and its results is hindered, or worse, prevented. The most important element in initiating this discussion is the scientific publication. Regardless of the reason why scientists write a manuscript-the motives are as varied as the authors themselves and range from the unbridled joy of making a discovery or finding the solution to a difficult (possibly even regarded as intractable) problem, to the duty and responsibility of demonstrating that external funds have been correctly utilized-the universal hope in publishing is the desire for resonance and the hope that with it a scientific discussion will begin.
