The editors' objective for this book was to provide an up-to-date overview of the role of arthroscopy in the management of TMJ disorders. It is written by notable authorities on the subjects, who present the material logically and concisely.

The material is organized into 10 superbly illustrated chapters that cover firstly, the development, anatomy, technique, and diagnostic and surgical use of arthroscopy. Secondly, analysis of the arthroscopically treated TMJ, and treatment planning using this technique is presented. In the final 2 chapters, a comparison of imaging techniques, and a discussion of the history and pathology of internal derangements completes this book. Each chapter is well-referenced, and the illustrations are usually accompanied by excellent clinical examples and photographs. Also, a review of one of the editor's experiences with surgical arthroscopy of the TMJ is presented.

This book provides an excellent, well-balanced, and concise reference to the use of arthroscopy in the management of the TMJ disorders. I recommend it for those interested in the management of the TMJ patient.
