## Abstract Two types of cavityβbacked slot (CBS) antennas fed by a microstrip line and operating at 5.8 GHz are described in this letter. One is a broadband linearly polarized CBS antenna, which can provide 34% bandwidth for a 10βdB return loss. The other is a circularly polarized dual Tβshape CBS

This work looks at the use of wideband cavity-backed U-slot microstrip antennas in finite phased arrays. This configuration retains the single-patch and single-layer characteristics of conventional microstrip antenna arrays and provides a good impedance matching over wider scan angles when electrica
