✦ Synopsis
Luminescence spectra(4.2 K) and etch patterns of thermally deformed anthraccnc single crystals are investigated. It is shown that the Dt band with AE = 235 cm-t (where AE is the energy gap between the bottom of the exciton band and the DI band) is due to the edge dislocations with the emergences at the (001) face running in the [OlO] direction whereas the D2 band with AE = 275 cm-' due to those with the emergences along the [ 1001 direction. The former are assumed to be (OlO)[ lOO]-type dislocations whereas the latter of (lOO)[OlO] type.
