✦ Synopsis
Alkhobar Phase two located on Arabian Gulf in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Plant is designed to produce 50 MIGPD distillate and 750 MW gross power.
The plant consists of five units, each unit consists of a boiler, turbine and two desalination lines.
Each desalination line is designed to produce5 MIGPD (100%) at top brine temperature of 90°C with the use of polyphosphate as scale inhibitor.
The desalination line is also designed to operate at two different higher top brine temperature with the use of high temperature additive.
These two top temperatures are 106°C and I15°C production corresponding to these two brine temperatures are 6 MIGPD (120%) and 6.7 MIGPD (134%) respectively. T~is paper attempts to compare the performance of the desalination units at the base output of 90°C top temperature with the other twopossible modes of operation from economical point of view.
