This paper presents a method for ECG data compression. The method is based on an orthogonal transform based on discrete Legendre polynomials. The use of such a transform provides several advantages for compressing ECG signals when compared with conventional Fourier or cosine transforms. We also have

After a short review of the data compression technique through orthogonal transforms, and a brief account of the basic features of multimicroprocessor systems, a fast Walsh transform-based multi-microprocessor data compression system is presented and tested using real ECG waveforms.
