โฆ Synopsis
Earth heritage conservation (EHC) is concerned with the maintenance of landforms, natural and artificial exposures of rocks, and sites where geological processes can be seen in action today. Conservation of this heritage ensures that future generations can continue to learn about the geological history of the planet and their immediate environment through education and research, and that the public can enjoy the beauty of natural physical features'.
As the first two sentences, this definition of EHC sets the scene for a book that, in my view, is one of the most important covering an earth science topic to be published in the past 15 yr. This may seem a grandiose exaggeration coming from a young, inexperienced, optimistic, overenthusiastic book reviewer. As I have none of these attributes, unfortunately, why then do I say this?
