A.C. impedance spectroscopy is now gaining favour as an investigative technique for monitoring the development of cement microstructure. This paper extents the range of application of the method by showing the compositional dependence of the complex impedance of cement-aggregate-water systems (ie. c

β¦ Synopsis
The solidification of toxic waste using OPC is practiced in a number of countries. OPC is known to interreact with some waste components. PFA is often added as a cement replacement material on grounds of cost and so that the final properties of solidified waste are improved. An inorganic waste, typical of that solidified commercially, has been shown by isothermal conduction calorimetry, strength development and microstructurai studies to markedly influence the early hydration of OPC. PFA was shown to contribute to strength development under conditions where the OPC hydration reaction was almost completely poisoned.
