## Abstract A method for structure determination of cyclic sulphides within mixtures is described. It involves the use of a vapour phase hydrodesulphurization micro‐reactor (Raney nickel) located between the chromatographic column and the mass spectrometer (hydrogen and deuterium are used as carrie

✦ Synopsis
A new method for early detection of runaway reactions in closed vessels is proposed.
The method is based on continuous monitoring of the gas phase composition using on-line mass spectrometry, and can be used in reactions yielding gaseous products. The method has been applied to the study of the decomposition of organic peroxides (dicumyl peroxide and di-tert-butyl peroxide) in a RSST unit, and found to be faster and more reliable than traditional methods based on monitoring the temperature of the liquid phase, i" 1997 Elsevier Science

Here, we describe the reliable method for the detection and quantitation of a pheomelanin component in melanin pigments. Synthetic melanins with various contents of pheomelanin‐type structural units were thermally degraded, and the multiple reaction monitoring mode was applied to detect the pheomela
## Abstract An improved set‐up for solid‐phase extraction with thermal desorption coupled on‐line to gas chromatography (SPETD‐GC) is presented. It includes a newly designed liner for a programmable temperature vaporizer (PTV) and an improved water elimination system. The SPETD procedure now includ
