Abstract
A new method for the calculation of the acid‐base constants based on the pH− metry has been proposed in a previous paper. The formulas given apply particularly well in cases where the constants differ little from each other. The results obtained are satisfactory only if the concentrations of the compounds investigated are sufficiently high and the acid‐base constants neither too small (less than ^−9^) nor too high (higher than 10^−3^) The initial formulas have therefore been modified in order to apply to all cases. The four constants of ethyleneglycol‐bis‐(β‐aminoethyl ether)‐N, N′‐tetraacetic acid are calculated using the approximative and the generalized formulas. On the other hand the constants of β,β′‐diaminodiethylether‐N, N′‐tetra‐acetic and diglycolic acids are calculated with the help of the generalized formulas.
