โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
Optical and hydrodynamic properties of poly(biphenylsulfoneterephthalamide) (PPhSTPhA) (systematic IUPAC name: poly(iminoterephthaloyliminoโ2,2โฒโsulfonylbiphenylโ4,4โฒโdiyl)) in sulfuric acid were investigated by means of flow birefringence and viscometry. Analysis of experimental molecular weight dependence on the shear optical coefficient made it possible to determine optical anisotropy of a monomer segment and a monomeric unit and the rigidity of the macromolecules. It was established that the molecules of this heterocyclic polyamide have the conformation of a kinetically rigid coil.

Flow and electric birefringence have been investigated for solutions of a number of fractions of a para-aromatic polyester using dioxane and dichloroacetic acid as solvents. It was found that, on passing from a nonpolar (dioxane) to a polar solvent, the optical and hydrodynamic properties of the cha

Fluorescence intensities of poly(2-vinylpyridine) (P2VP) and poly(4-vinylpyridine) (P4VP) in H 2 SO 4 /H 2 O solutions were increased with increasing acid concentration. The intensities for P2VP were found to be six times stronger than that of P4VP. These differences were accounted for by the microe
