โœฆ Synopsis

Abatraet-The finite element method with normal quadrilateral plate elements is used for the determination of the bending compliance of orthogonal full and open hollow section beams with transverse cracks. Computed results are compared with those from theory for the full rectangular sections and with experiments performed with rectangular hollow sections. The effect of such cracks on the dynamic response of channel-section beams is investigated. Such analysis is of importance for the identification of cracks in steel structures.

Dynamic and ductile fracture of edge-cracked beam made of Type 304 stainless steel under electromagnetic bending force is studied experimentally as well as theoretically. In the theoretical part, we calculate the extended J-integral with the effect of both electromagnetic force and thermal stress ca
