✦ Synopsis
We prment a study of a dynarriical mechanism rclated to liquid-gas phasc transitions in nuclear sources: the spinodal decomposition. Cluster forrriation is due to the devcloprricnt, of iinstahle collective modes of the dcnsity and presents some specific features: related to the properties of the interparticle force. The analysis is quit,e general and call be easily extended to any syst, ern of particles interacting through short raiige forces. In two-component, systems (neutrons and protons) fragments are formed with favourite sixes and neutron to proton ratio less than the one of the initial source (isospin distillation). Structure effects in the disassembly of dilute nuclci are also discussed. 0375.94740 -see front matter 8 2004 Published by Elsevier B.V.
