Assuming that the thermal neutron flux through a flat slab can be expressed as the sum of exponential terms, the heating effects due to capture y-ray absorption are calculated. Curves are presented for total heat absorbed, peak temperature and peak thermal stress for a simple attenuation of neutrons
## Alber We investigate the deformation of general anisotropic and inhomogeneous shells, under the action of a given temperature distribution. We assume that the temperature field is a polynomial in the axial coordinate, and we establish the displacements produced by the prescribed thermal field.
