✦ Synopsis
The dynamic stability of structural members with a thin-walled cross-section under periodic axial follower torque and force is investigated. The basic equation of motion of these members becomes a Hill's equation, and parametrically excited unstable vibration takes place in this system. Stability maps of the simple parametric resonance of members with various boundary conditions and various load conditions are illustrated and their instability becomes evident from the numerical results.
