## Abstract Rosemary oil was extracted by both steam and hydrodistillations then analysed by gas chromatography and gas chromatographyโmass spectrometry. The effect of time of extraction enabled us to follow the evolution of the yield and oil composition obtained by both processes. Copyright ยฉ 2003

## Abstract A simplified model that considered the oil constituents as one constituent, anethole, the major component, was used to describe the mass transfer of steam extraction of aniseed essential oil. The model can be used to optimise and control the process. Depending on the oil content, two ma
