✦ Synopsis


Transient higher order phase transitions have been observed above the critical pressure at 3 bar during near-isobaric phase transitions which intersect the transposed critical curve (TCC). Application of a step input in power from the composite Nb Ti/Cu to He 4 at 4.2 K causes temperature changes with relatively high cooling rates in pseudoJiquid of He I, a sudden temperature jump and relatively low cooling rates in pseudo-vapour of He I. Results are discussed in the context of other pressurized He 4 data and in relation to dual higher order transition.
