✦ Synopsis


The dynamic instability of laminated composite circular cylindrical shells subjected to periodic load is studied using a C o shear ¯exible two-noded axisymmetric shell element. The formulation includes the eects of inplane and rotary terms. The boundaries of the principal instability regions are conveniently represented in the non-dimensional excitation frequencyÐnon-dimensional load amplitude plane. The eects of various parameters such as ply-angle, thickness, aspect-ratio, axial and circumferential wave numbers on dynamic stability are brought out.
