✦ Synopsis

The dynamic behaviour of an adiabatic adsorption column is described by a mathematical model which includes the axial dispersion of mass and heat as well as external film and pore diffusional resistances to mass transfer. The resistance to heat transfer is assumed to reside in the external fluid film and the equilibrium relationship is represented by a temperature dependent Langmuir isotherm. It is shown that the model provides a good representation of the experimental data obtained in an adiabatically operated laboratory scale molecular sieve drier.
