โฆ Synopsis
An efficient method for the numerical analysis of layered media subjected to dynamic loads is the Stiffness Matrix Method proposed by Kausel and Roesset, 5 a procedure which is closely related to earlier contributions by Biot? In order to apply this method to the analysis of layered media overlying an infinite viscoelastic cross-anisotropic halfspace, it is necessary to have detailed expressions for the dynamic stiffnesses of such a halfspace (as seen from its surface). Since these functions are not readily available, they are developed in this paper by superposition of plane waves in all directions.
