โœฆ Synopsis

The cyclic voltammetric deposition on metallic electrodes of multilayer coatings of the dyes thionine, oxonine, Nile Blue A and Neutral Red, and of l-hydroxyphenazine and 1-aminophenazine, is described. Evidence is presented to show that the coatings are produced by polymerization of oxidativelyformed radical cations. These coatings form more readily from dye solutions in acidic media than in aprotic solvents.

The electrochemical behaviour of polypyrrole coated electrodes has been examined by cyclic voltammetry. It has been found that polypyrrole coatedelectrodesare selective to F&+/Fe'+ couple but not to thionine/leucothionine couple. An improved output in the Iron-thionine photogalvanic celi has been ob
