Zero-range DWBA double stripping theory is shown successfully to account for angular distributions observed from (t, p) reactions on 12C, 160, 2*Mg, 28Si and 4ยฐCa if the real triton potential is taken to be approximately equal to the sum of the potentials of its constituent nucleons. It is demonstrated from simple theoretical considerations that for the (t, p) reaction zero-range is expected to be a reasonable approximation except for very light nuclei.
